Things to do in Belfast Northern Ireland
|
I got just about 24 hours here on my connection back home. Will arrive at 3pm in the afternoon tomorrow and need to head to the airport around the same time the following day.
Cheapest flight I could find had a long layover here and I quite fancied checking it out I like the Northern Irish far less of cunts than Scots and Welsh.
Anyone have any suggestions of what to do?
Should I hire a car? Airport looks quite central and easy/affordable to reach by cab but there might be something good to drive to.
Cheers!

Are you going to be at Belfast City or Belfast International?
If you're at City then cab it, International hire a car.
What to do depends on your interests? Could to a political tour around Belfast in a black cab, wander round the Titanic quarter for a bit or for an authentic experience start drinking at 10am and spend the guts of the afternoon shouting at parked cars.

A black cab tour is a must, if only to see the murials down the lower Shankill and Falls Road. The guides are brilliant, funny and informative. It's a lovely city, enjoy yourself.

Nordern Ireland is beautiful, Belfast is one of the most fun cities in europe.
As well as the culture and architecture, just turn any corner and you will uncover a surprising number of IRA arms caches.

Don't want to be pendantic but you'll be hard pressed to find The Giants Causeway in Portrush, it's 9 miles down the coast. Just be careful about Robinsons in the city centre, it's a beautiful old bar but there's always a few hallions about it looking to fleece tourists.

I was there last weekend - had a cracking time.
The murals on and around the Falls and Shankill Roads are fascinating. You can wonder round there or get a cab ride. Some great pubs in the The Entries. Went out in the evening at Lavery's which was decent.
I did a day trip to the Giant's Causeway - stunning. Bit of a pain to get there on public transport, should be easy though by car.
